A 2-stroke engine with an expansion box tends to have a narrow power-band, a much narrower band than with a stock exhaust and outside of that narrow band often an engine hardly develops enough power to keep itself running. Earlier 2-strokes are particularly "peaky" with a tuned exhaust and must be ridden accordingly. Webb29 okt. 2012 · Reset idle to recommended settings and test ride motorcycle. If engine bogs or hesitates during acceleration, richen idle screws 1/4 to 1/2 turn and see if that helps. Rev engine in neutral and note how RPM’s return to idle. If RPM’s hang, richen the mix. If they dip below idle, lean the mix.

Webb29 mars 2010 · I have been talking to a few Holley carb gurus, and they all told me that it is not un-common what I had to do to fix the problem. +1. After playing around with bigger squirters, larger accelerator pumps, different accel pump cams and trying various power valves, the only thing that fixed an off idle bog was larger jets. For … Webb22 sep. 2006 · Close the idle mixture screws lightly, then open each one 2 turns. Adjust both screws in or out to get the highest vacume and rpm at idle. Then get in the car and put it in drive. If it is still to lean it will stumble and try to die when you first put it in drive. If so then adjust each screw out 1/4 turn and try again.

You're right about bypassing the idle circuit at fast idle, but the car will bog down from slow idle too if you wait just long enough for the fast idle cam to disengage. Check your air fuel screw- looks like a D with no hole in the center, if you take a piece of 3/16" brass pipe, you can flatten one side to remove it to slot it with a dremel. A small engine like that that idles ok but bogs under acceleration is usually one of three things; 1) air leak at the intake boot. A squirt of starter fluid at the boot while running will tell you. Every red light was an embarrassment waiting to happen. If there's bogging when taking off or reving from idle, it's too rich. These problems can often be tuned out with the air screw. Going from 50 to 55 idle jets eliminated the bog and the bus drives MUCH better.
